Reflexology

ReflexologyWe are extremely excited at Medipod Clinics, to announce that we are now offering Reflexology sessions with Maria, who has created a lovely calming space within our clinic.

What is Reflexology all about?

Foot reflexology is an ancient practice, which stimulates specific points on the feet to relax and heal the body. This ancient art dates to Egypt 2500 BC! In the tomb of the physician Ankmahor, evidence was found of reflexology treatments to the hands and feet.

How does Reflexology work?

ReflexologyReflexology is a complementary therapy that involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet. These points are believed to correspond to various organs and body systems. It is a safe non-invasive treatment. Typically, there is no pain during the process, and people feel like they are getting a foot massage.

A reflexologist will use their thumb or finger to apply pressure and make micro-movements over the pressure points. Maria will use these specific movements to help improve blood circulation and energy flow within the body. Stimulating these reflex points properly can help health issues naturally, as a kind of preventative maintenance. Doctors agree that 75% of illness can be traced back to stress and tension.

A treatment session usually last for sixty minutes and begins with a consultation on your health. During the treatment, a patient is fully clothed, seated in a reclined position, with relaxing music playing in the background. Maria will put you at your ease and encourage you too close your eyes and relax. It is so relaxing that patients have been known to have a nap!

Benefits of Reflexology

ReflexologyReflexology is a calming and relaxing therapy, which can assist the body in returning to a dynamic state of balance. It may assist in alleviating stress, anxiety and induce deep relaxation. When the body is in this relaxed state, it has the opportunity and ability to balance itself and function more efficiently. After reflexology treatment you may sleep better, feel more energised, but calm and your digestion may also improve.

Circulation may also be improved, together with an opening up of the body’s energy pathways, which can bring balance and vitality to the physical, emotional, and mental aspects of the body. You may feel better after just one treatment, but a course of treatments may better help you to get back on track with leading a healthy life and feeling more positive.
